Meet The Team

Katie Widen

Katie is a senior in Computer Engineering. A Peer Mentor for Cpr E 185, she brought forward the problem with grading which led to the creation of COGS. As Team Leader, Katie’s responsibilities include running meetings, communicating with the advisor and instructor, and making sure tasks are evenly distributed. She is part of the web-team, and so consequently is learning PHP and Zend framework. Outside of her studies, Katie spends her time painting, sewing, and enjoying Diet Coke.

Daniel Riechers

Daniel is a Senior in Computer Engineering. As Keeper of Concepts he is tasked with keeping design practices and terminology consistent, and making sure that all is going well. He is also tasked with understanding all the latest ideas, decisions, and keeping the team on task. He a member of the Security Committee which is in charge of writing security policies, and security encapsulation. Daniel has nearly four years work experience at Rockwell Collins. There he has worked with SELinux policy creation and testing, Embedded system core software development, large system builds, software design, and web development. In his free time he enjoys homebrewing, aviation, and robotics.

Forrest Scott

Forrest is a senior in Computer Engineering with plans to graduate in the Fall. As the webmaster, his responsiblity is to keep the webpage up-to-date with the latest documentation and achievements. He has also taken a important technical role in developing the front end of C.O.G.S. His experience developing multiple Zend Framework applications allows him to help the team design fully functional and user friendly websites. In his free time he enjoys photography, programing experiments, and podcasts.

Daniel McDonough

Daniel is a Senior in Computer Engineering. As Key Concept Holder he is tasked with keeping track of how small scale designs will fit into the larger project. He keeps the team on task by guiding discussion towards important design decisions and away from small details that can be worked out later. He is part of the web-team and has spent time learning PHP and Zend framework in order to contribute meaningfully to the project. When he gets the rare gift of having free time, Daniel enjoys reading, video games, and spending time with friends.

Zach Lones

Zach is a senior in Computer Engineering and German Language and Cultures for the Professions. As communication leader, he is responsible for completing the weekly reports, and documenting important notes from the various meetings. He is also working on developing the backend of C.O.G.S. as a member of the Security Committee. In his free time he enjoys League of Legends and craft brews.
